Slow phone dialer

I recently upgraded to XP home edition and the phone dialer is painfully
slow. After entering a number it can take up to 1 minute for the dialer to
actually dial. Never had the problem with Windows 98. Any ideas of how to
speed this up? Thanks.

Update the drivers for your modem. Get ones for XP from either the modem
mftr.'s website or from the OEM's website for your specific model computer
if you have that kind of machine (Dell, HP, Compaq, etc.).

If there are no drivers for your modem, replace it since all new modems will
support XP. A basic modem costs under $25USD.

Malke,
Thanks for the info. As it turns out, the problem is a lack of memory. It's
an older machine that probably shouldn't be running XP - so no modem is going
to make a difference. However, I've found that using the hyper terminal as a
dialer works great and is as fast as the old Windows 98 dialer. Thanks again.
