do you use Netware Client?

That can slow down connecting to NT shares

Dodgey network cable? Lots of network traffic from other users?

Thanks - no no Netware client - pure MS environment -

Not one computer - 15 of them - every machine we have bought preloaded
with XP

I am actually trying to downgrade to Win2000 but having difficulty
finding drivers

All machine are brand new IBM thinkpads or M Series Intellistations ...

What kind of Servers you running........? Domain/Child
Domains/Workgroup/Clusters?
DNS entries for those?
How have you setup DNS, on A) Servers B ) Workstations
Is your Switch or hub up to scratch?
How do you share the Internet?
What firewalling have you in place?
Set the NICS to Auto or 100 or 1GB or 10Mb/s?

Thanks !

NIC's set to Auto - 100 Mb to switches

DNS is all DHCP to an internal Win2K DC and all switch gear is 3Com
superstack

Firewall is Cisco PIX & it provides NAT so all internal IPs are
192.168.*

Internet link is a 10Mb/s LAN Extension

Internet connection speed is fine - its mapped network drives on the
local network

Formatting the computer & installing Win2K does NOT have the same
problem - just XP .......
