static -and- automatic ip address

i have a laptop. At work, i need to access via a static address due to some
application requirements. However, DHCP is turned on for the work network.
At home, I need to access via DHCP due to my ISP. I'm running WinXP sp2 and
it will only allow me to set up a single 'LAN' network connection. Is there
an easy way to access the appropriate network without having to manually
change the ip address every time I logon?

How do you connect to your ISP's network? Dial-up? ADSL?

Yes. I do this all the time on my son's laptop. At school, he uses a static
IP on a different subnet than the one I have at home. Home is dynamic IP
also. You can either use the Alternate Configuration or third-party network
management software if you find the timeout for the Alternate Configuration
onerous.
