Slow log out from TS Client

Tito Huq

We have a Windows 2000 machine with Terminal Services
intalled. When users log off, they sit on a screen for
approximately 3-4 minute before completely logging out. I
have checked the running process under the users, the
processes terminate almost immediately, but on the client
side the windows does not go away for a 3-4 minutes.

The server is running Windows 2000 SP4.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any help will be
greatly apprecaited.

This is a reported bug with Windows 2000 SP4.

I've seen reports of slow logoffs for both Citrix ICA and
Microsoft RDP TS protocols. I saw an article earlier
today on the Microsoft knowledgebase, but now I can't seem
to find it. The resolution for this problem was to
uninstall SP4 and rollback to SP3, just so you know. I'm
also under the impression that a bug fix will be released
soon.

Here we experience the same problem. Beside that we
experience a slow logon. Just loaded W2000std SP4 over a
SP3 Citrix FR2 installation.
I notice that the Power Meter won't close properly.
upon closing this manually (end program window), the
session will directly be closed.

Thanks for your response. I can't find any document on MS
KB on slow log off either. Hopefully the patch will be out
soon.

Hi,

though a bit off-topic: Slow _logons_ in SP4 (and SP3 with Q324446) with
Citrix can occur because of client printer creation. Try Q824309 (MS
Support, no Q article yet) to get it fixed. (Try to disable printer mapping
to prove it is really that error, first.)

Regards,
Don
