Slow loading....

my computer was working properly few weeks ago but recently there's a problem in the notification area..

after everything is u
....a FEW icons in notification area went missing (i.e volume control)
only my "InCD" icon is shown in the notification are

all back to normal after waiting for A MINUTE.... all icons reappear in the notification area....(while waiting, i cant access to anything... i.e files in my hard drive)

whats wrong?? why it takes so long to load up the whole thing.....before that its like taking only 30 secs .....pls help!!!
btw my com is a P4 2.4 ghz with 256mb ram
 
2.4Ghz processor and only 256MB of RAM. This is like putting a v12 engine in a Volkswagen Beetle. Sure you have the power but not the chassis to handle it. At the very least you need 512MB of RAM. Then you need to only load the essential programs you want at boot time. Never put full programs or files on the desktop only shortcuts. Keep the system defragged and run chkdsk at least once a month. Use disk cleaner once a week at least. Clear out your prefetch file if you do a lot of installing and uninstalling. I delete the prefetch about once a month and you will see that after doing so the next 5-6 boots will be slow until the prefetch is again populated with what you are actually using. I also use BootVis. Contrary to what propoganda MS or anyone else tells you it does decrease boot times immediately when using the optimize function. Good luck.
