Slow Internet and computer

Hi

I havn't used my computer for 2-3 weeks...and after that period of time,
I've realised that the internet and computer have slowed down immensly. I
don't understand, my desktop is very clean, ive only used up to 30 GB worth
of space out of my 120GB space, and sites that i attend have been much
slower. I have broadband internet and i struggle to open sites with the pace
i used to especially foreign sites. Downloading music for example, it used to
b in very quick time, but now, it either lags a lot or just struggles to load
at good pace. I feel like its dial up speed. I've even told a friend to open
a site that i couldnt open, and he did it in a few seconds with dialup.
Programs i open on my computer have also slowed down and the internet and
computer just seem to lag a lot. I do not understand what has happened. Is
there a way of making the computer faster? Please help. Thank you.

Yes, that is a good site to learn how to best tune up your PC. Pay
special attention to:

* making sure your PC is free of malware (viruses, spyware, etc.)
* deleting all temp and TIF files
* defragging
* have a minimum number of programs/processes running in the background

But the above applies only to the performance of your PC, not to your
connection speed.

Who is your ISP? Have you contacted them? The problem may very well lie
with them.

Also, visit http://www.dslreports.com/tools to see if there are any
settings you need to tweak to maximize your broadband connection.

Also, why don't you give us additional specs of your machine (CPU, RAM,
etc.)? Not enough RAM can slow you down significantly.
