slow file access to NT server

Trying to access files on my NT server from XP is very slow.
I have several directories in excess of 2 Gig.
From a 98 computer I can explore the directory in about 3 seconds.
From a XP computer it takes 20 or more.
Trying to open files from these directories can take almost a minute.
Any ideas
Thanks

I was experiencing the same issue on my netowrk. I was able to find a "fix" here in these Threads. You can add the following DWORD to the Registry and it fixed our problem.
Navigate to the following Registry Key AFTER BACKING up your registry.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}

Where GUID is the Key for the NIC your using.Mine looked like this {63FA0CF3-A2B1-4A1B-A21C-B0BD59A7D4D9}

ADD this DWORD Value to the GUID

TcpAckFrequency

Press Enter Twice and change the Value Data to 1 (one) the Default is 0 (zero).

you will need to reboot for the setting to work.

Good Luck.....
