I've got a XP SP2 system that maps its My Documents folder to a drive
on a Linux server running Samba. After initial installation of this
new PC all ran fine when in Word or Excel and doing a File Open or Save
to the directory on the server.
Now it takes many seconds (10-20) to display and navigate down the
folder tree on the server when Opening or Saving a file in Word or
Excel, but it is instantaneous when navigating using Windows Explorer.
Another identical PC with similar setup operates OK. The PC that is
slow has a wireless bridge to access the office wireless router, the PC
that is running OK uses a wired LAN connection, but the problem PC had
been working OK till recently.
Any idea what is causing these Office 2002 applications to be slow in
doing directory/file navigation?
