Slow computer

I have a Pentium II, 333, 288 MB Ram, computer, we added another hard drive
and more memory. We do not use our computer for games, just to check mail,
web surfing basically, and keep our stuff there. I have Windows XP
Professional, IE, OE, Microsoft Office 2002. The computer runs out of the
new HD and has 38.2GB free space now, the old one is partitioned in 3 with a
total of over 1.5 GB free. I do not know what is wrong, but my computer is
so slow!!! Sometimes it takes a lot of time to open MSN or if I go another
web page it takes forever. On the task manager I have about 27 programs
running , startup is slow, downloading mail is slow. Any idea why is so
slow? We have cable modem. I need help!!!!!

invest in a new modern machine...

Have you defragged regularly. Do Check Disk daily and do a defrag analyze
every couple days. Jym

Buy a new computer or just get used to it. One of my machines is a Celly 400 & it's what most people would call "slow". The only thing you can really do is disable un-used services & make sure your startup is clear Have fun.
