Slow Boot

I am running Vista Home Basic on an HP Presario with 2 GB of RAM. A few days
ago I installed an HP Deskjet F4280 all in one printer/scanner. Since then
boot up on start is extremely slow. I get as far as the Welcome screen, then
a long pause followed by a blue screen. The blue screen lasts for up to two
minutes, then the boot finishes. After that everything seems to run
normally. In playing with the problem I discovered that if I turn User
Account Control off the problem disappears. Any help will be appreciated.

Something similar happened to me, but it involved network printers. Any
Vista computer connected to a network print server slowed to a molasses in
January crawl. I couldn't find a fix so I upgraded to XP. You could do the
same or you could leave UAC turned off.
