Slow Boot Process- 1 Hour

There is a server 2000 that is the Domain Controller. On boot, it takes an
hour to go thru it's processes. What's the best way to trouble shoot?

So far I have tried a new Network Card, but no difference. On the TCPIP
configuration, the IP address is the same as the DNS. I don't really know if
that is normal/correct.

Any ideas appreciated.

Is the server running the DNS service? If so then it can be the same as the
IP address but if it does'nt then you need to point the DNS settings at a
working DNS server or install DNS services on it.

Is the machine set to use fixed IP address not DHCP? Make sure DHCP Client
is disabled.

Check event viewer for clues ie services failing to start etc such as

The server is set for a Fixed IP. Do you mean the DHCP client for the server
should be disabled?

Yes as if you're on fixed it's not needed

Do not disable the DHCP client Service as this is used to Register with DNS.
