I am tring to copy my pictures to a CD or DVD so that I
can watch them as a slide show on a DVD player. Do I need
special software other than Picture it Express or Movie
Maker? I also have Home Publishing and HP PhotoSmart
software.

The software you have will not do this.

If you want to copy them on a CD, to make a VCD playable in your DVD player
you can use the inexpensive (20.00) Plus available here.

The quality on your TV will be "good".
Just be careful using it. If you use the option of panning and zooming on
the still photos and you do it fast you will get a lot of blurring, but if
you just copy the still photos, add narration and music there is no
blurring.

If you want to copy them on a DVD you will need a DVD burner (still
expensive ~300.00). If you purchase one it will come with the appropriate
software to do this. The quality on your TV will be very good and you have
many more options such as making several slide shows on the same DVD disk.
