i have xp home. ok i have done the hard bit, i have managed to get a photo
slideshow onto dvd. now how do i get the pictures to play in the order i=that
i want them to play on the dvd player?

Give them names which are in the order that you want realizing that they
will be shown in lexical order.

Try numbering the images.
00001.jpg,
00002.jpg,
00010.jpg,
00011.jpg,
00100.jpg,
00101.jpg...
etc...

You get the idea...

As others have pointed out, the filenames are the key.

Strictly speaking, you have burned the photos themselves to a DVD, not a
slide show. The "slide show" you can see with your DVD is created by
the DVD player, and is not very customizable, unlike a slide show
created on your PC and then burned *as video* to a DVD, which can be
exactly what you design on the PC, including narration and/or music.

Well, I think you may need DVD SlideShow Builder to help. In three
steps:
1. Easily and quickly create a photo slideshow with stunning transition
effects;
2. Burn the photo/video slideshow to DVD, VCD or SVCD;
3. Play on DVD player and share.
