There are four kinds of DVD disks you can purchase:
-R
-RW
+R
+RW.
Forget about -RW or + RW to play in a DVD
There are three types of DVD burners (DVD drives):
-R and -RW
+R and +RW
-R and -RW and +R and +RW
So you purchase -R or +R discs according to the type of burner you have.
Now, the same is true for DVD. Some will play:
only -R (first DVD player could play this only)
only +R (rare)
or -R and +R (become the new standard)
The most common is -R. So if your burner can copy to -R, use this.

I'm having the same problem as Conor I burnt my photos to a verbatim cd
,viewed them in my computer they played great .Put the same disc in the DVD
player and the audio came out but the photos came out in a menu I couldnt
view and the DVD player only recognised the WMA extension not the WMV that my
computer had.I copied the disc twice first using -R and -RW

Conor D , apparently you have to change the files made in the movie maker
from WMV to AVI and burn these using Nero or some other authoring program. The
problem is getting a decent program to change the files over . There are a
few on the net if you google them up but finding one that doesnt cost big US
dollars is the thing $1 in Australia gets me bugger all in the world. Will
keep searching and if I find anymore out I'll let you know.Try to use
verbatim disks as these have less problems when viewing.

Forgot Photo Story - Movie Maker they are the same thing Windows is not an
authoring program to enable these to be seen in regular DVD players a third
party program is needed and a fourth if your looking to imort your windows
saved files over to Nero etc to burn.

If you are trying with Photo Story 3, check this site for directions to copy
to a DVD.
http://www.eicsoftware.com/PapaJohn/MM2/MM2.html
Wait for the page to open then look at the menu on the left under Movie
Maker 2. You will see the PS3 item listed there.
Specific instructions are given about copying a PS3 to a DVD so it can play
to your TV from a DVD player.
I don't think the problem is with your DVD player, but rather with the steps
you followed during copying (and you are not the first person encountering
this problem).

Hey all you want to do is take a disk put it in a machine and play it .Am I
right?
OK
save your project to your hard disk (not just the files but the actual
project)maybe use a small one till you test it out ,make sure you have enough
memory and hard disk space for it.Save it to" my video".
In Nero Express 3 (www.nero.com) click the first option to " burn a cd"
click on "vcd".This recognises the WMV files that windows makes without
changing anything ,follow the page to "import Video" browse in "my video"
select the file (S)
you want to burn follow the next next then check your preferences click burn.
Wait & its done.I used a verbatim cd-rw and this played tops in my TV DVD
player
complete with music and transitions credits the whole bit.
hope this helps you or gives you some idea
cheers

Unfortunately this will not work.
He wants to copy to a DVD, not to a CD to make a VCD which is what you are
making.
The two are different and this is why I recommend to follow the steps from
the papajohn site.

Sorry
I assumed he just wanted to burn photos to watch on a dvd player not
specifically burn them to a dvd disk, although I burnt my photos in my dvd
burner using a cd-rw disk and got the same result -photos on a disk I could
put on the dvd in my tv.If you ,Conor really want to use a dvd disk the nero
6 reloaded has the burning rom 6 which will do the trick to burn to dvd

Also Conor did your dvd burner come in the computer when you got it?
If not what sort of software did you get? look in the manuals to find out if
there is an authoring there for dvd.I got nero 6 reloaded thrown in with my
dvd burner when I purchased it .Other than that mate it all costs money .
Good luck

Hi, Conor

Photo2DVD Studio is another solution. It helps you to transfer your
digital photo slideshow on DVD. Or for more helps you can do a search
'Photo to DVD' in google .

Good luck.
