Sleep mode

I am running Windows Vista. After coming out of sleep mode my audio does not
work, the drivers are uninstalled and shows that their is no 'Realtek' audio
card installed. I have to reboot the OS in order for my audio to come back.
Then everything is back to normal until I put the computer to sleep again.
Can someone help with this, thank you!

In Control Panel > Windows Update, do you have "Update for Windows Vista
(KB937077)" installed? (Click on "View update history").

Install this update to address an issue that may prevent high-definition
audio devices from initializing after resuming the system from a sleep or
hibernation state. After you install this item, you may have to restart your
computer.

When you say 'Realtek', is it a Realtek High Definition Audio Device (look
in Device Manager)? You may also benefit from updating the driver.

Hi dean-dean,
I just noticed that the update was installed on July 11th so I will test it
out.
Thank you for info

I find I'm having the same issues on my IBM X60 tablet. Any hardware that I
can't turn off generally stops working when resuming from sleep. For
example, the fingerprint scanner won't start back up, Bluetooth stops
working, Verizon WWAN stops working, and 802.11 stops working. Even worse, I
can only resume from sleep 2 times before the system totally freezes on the
3rd resume, requiring a hard hold-down-the-power-button reboot. I found out
by accident one day that if I have the networking switch in the off position
(which turns off the Bluetooth, WWAN and 802.11) I can resume from sleep fine
then turn on the networking. The fingerprint reader is still off-line,
though. After sleeping/resuming about 8 or so times as I move from meeting
to meeting, everything freezes again and I have to hard reboot. I figure
that the other hardware I can't turn off is getting confused as well, just
taking longer than the wireless to get confused, then freezing the system
entirely. All updates from IBM (including BIOS) and MS are current as far as
I can tell.
