size of subwebs ??

G

Geoffw

Hi

is there a size limit on subwebs ?

I have created a subweb to house downloads from my site
(managability) , however when I publish the subweb it gets
to 12 meg sent and the server times out even tho there is
active data transfer happening ?

The fiels were originally stored in a "download " folder
which I converted to a subweb, I then created a local web
called download to manage content, however (and I think
because the site has not been published yet) even tho all
the files appear in the download subweb I only get the
option to publish all pages ?

thanks

Geoff

have now noticed that any files bigger than about one meg
immediately cause the "server to time out"

is there a restriction on file sizes when publishing ? as
said below these large files were originally for download
links

thanks

Check with your ISP, they may have upload/upstream file size limit.

Agree
Move all the large non html files to a folder, convert that folder to a subweb and FTP the large files to that folder (do not open
that subweb in FP again)

| I would use a FTP application for any file over 100 KB.

thanks

I agree with the FTP option, was just wondering if it was a
FP limit or host/isp limit

Can be an ISP upload limit.

does work with ftp, does not work using FP
would there be any reason for this ? FP seems to be the
limiter

Then it sound like the host has the timeout value set short, since when you
publish via FP's http mode, the extensions have to communicated with each
other, where with FTP, there is not two way communication.
