Singld click Vs double click

I can nolonger change from double click selection to single ckick selection because the single click choice is grayed out. Also the restore feature will not let me go back in time. how do I get back to single click selection?

Do you mean in Folder Options?

Which choice specifically is grayed out? Can you tell me the text?
