Simple File Sharing

Computer crashed, reloaded windows and everything was backed up. So far so
good. Cannot open backed up "owner" file. It was password protected.
Microsoft indicated that I should Go to My Computer, Tools, Folder Options,
Veiw Tab and under advanced settings click to clear "Use Simple File
Sharing(Recommended). The problem is there is no "Use Simple File Sharing
(recommended)" block to check. It is not there at all. Any ideas will be
appreciated.

If you are looking for Security tab then it is only available in Windows XP
Professional edition and Windows XP Home Edition has simple file sharing is
enable by default so there is no box.

Your question is making a little bit confused. You said it is asking for a
password. There is no such inbuilt facility in Windows XP where you can put a
password to a folder.

Lastly, maybe the message could be "Access Denied". It could be because of
Security restrictions. You need to make sure that you have installed
reinstalled the same version of Windows after crash.
