Simple effects

I right click the movie segment and choose fade in or out
and the program immediately shuts down with no error
message or anything. I've tried multiple clips in
different projects. Anyone have a clue? Thanks.

Hi there,

This sounds like the usual codecs problems. I have written a program
that will let you deal with this efficiently and with no likely hood that
you will mess things up. The program is called "Rename Codecs" and is
available in the downloads section of my website. A Lot of people are now
reporting great success with it.
