Signature Files

I was able to install Windows Defender, but I am unable to update the
signature files. When I click "Check for Updates", it says that no new
updates are available. I have checked the signature version (via "About
Windows Defender") and it is only 1.0.0.0. Any ideas?

If my computer is configured to use Group Policy settings, will I be unable
to download the updates? If so, can I download them manually?

If access to AutoUpdate is restricted, and the WSUS administrator hasn't
published the Windows Defender signature updates, then update within the
program won't work. If you are permitted to reach Windows Update, the
updates are available there.

Otherwise, the manual route involves cutting and pasting a URL from
\windows\windowsupdate.log on a machine which IS able to update.

Some users have posted these URL's in these groups. I published the most
recent one on March 23rd, as I recall--in .announcements.
