I want to get rid of the sign in on the welcome screen. I tried the run &
control userpasswords2 but I don't know if I have a password or not as XP was
installed when I bought this PC. I leave the box blank but I still get the
box with my name on the welcome screen to click on. How do I remove it?
Thanks

Hello,

If your logon requires a password, then you have to set the password in
Tweak UI by clicking on the Set Password button in the Autologon section.

Also, ensure that you have typed the username and password letter for
letter.

I did everything you said to do and I still have to click on my name. Do I
put in a password?

Thank you but I don't know what the password is. How do I find it? Like I
said before, XP was already installed

Hello,

So how do you login without a password? Is there a Guest account?

You never had a password if you never typed one in and if you're the only user:
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > User Accounts applet > "Change the way users
log on or off" link.
Uncheck "Fast user switching" and click the "Apply Options" button.
Close out and reboot.

If you still get the Logon prompt at boot:
Click Start > Run, type in: regedit and press Enter.
Expand hkey_local_machine to:
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows nt\current version\winlogon.

In the right pane of winlogon look for AutoAdminLogon.
If the Value = 0, double click AutoAdminLogon, change the value to 1, click Ok and
close out of regedit.

If AutoAdminLogon isn't present:
Right click an empty area in the right pane and select New > String Value.
Type in AutoAdminLogon and press Enter.
Double click the name, change the value to 1, click Ok and close out of regedit.
