shuts down then starts up

Hi, I have a problem with my computer shutting down and restarting for no
reason. I have cleaned fan etc. and all is clean inside, and have scanned
for viruses and it's OK as well. I was thinking maybe a short in the
electrical supply, any other suggestions? Thanks

You probably use the default setting for 'restart on error'.

Press WinKey-Break,(or start/run 'sysdm.cpl'), click Advanced Tab, Start
Up... area, Settings button, Remove check from "Automatically Restart" On the
next reboot, you will be able to read what caused the restart (when it
errors) or look at the Event Viewer, start/run, type:
eventvwr.msc

Hi, Thanks, but that wasn't checked, maybe I will open again and check to
see there is any more dust inside! Thanks again

Hello,

How old is your PC? Could be your power supply unit (PSU) failing.

If you have a spare working PSU, swap it in and see if the problem arises.
