Shut off Windows firewall, forever?

I have XP Home 2002 version installed on my computer, I want to install
Norton 2005 but for some reason it is not installing correctly and I cannot
use it. I need to shut this darn Firewall off but it never shows up in the
Off position. Can you help me?
 
A firewall does not affect your ability to install software.

For questions about Norton software, contact Symantec technical support.
 
The computer gods are telling you to stay away, far away from Norton crap.
