Question about Firewall being On

In Windows Security Center Firewall is On. Under Firewall it says Norton is
curently On!! It can't be because I no longer have Norton in my computer.
I went through Norton Removal Tool to delete all Remnents of Norton/Symantec
and took the steps to delete any programs with the name Symantec/Norton. I
did this because I was having problems Downloading and Installing Norton
Internet Security Upgrade 2007. How can Firewall be on by Norton if its not
in my computer anymore??? Windows Firewall is Off!!

Also, Antivirus is showing Off but it says that Windows has found multiple
Antivirus programs on my computer that report either out of date or turned
off. I have nothing in my computer or I don't think I do. I can't find
anything!!

I'm so confused!!!!

You need to manually clean out the residual Norton crud from your
system. Even with their supplementary uinstallers those brain-fried
bozos at Symantec still can't do things right.

The first thing to do is to search your hard drive for any and all
files that have Symantec or Norton as part of the file name, and
rename or delete them. Safest is to rename them and then delete them
in a week or two, once you are satisfied that no errors are resulting
from this.

If the Firewall status information remains the same, even after
cleaning up the leftover files then you need to manually clean out the
registry by deleting the keys that refer to Symantec or Norton. This
can be time consuming, and make sure you make a manual backup of the
registry (Erunt) and/or set a manual system restore point before doing
this. Finally, this would be one of the few circumstances where the
use of a registry cleaning utility, such as RegSeeker (free) from
http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm, would be justified.

Good luck

It sounds like you did everything right. Did you run the tool at the
following link?

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

This tool has worked for my and many of my customers computers without
fail. Otherwise, are you sure you don't have some other bugs or malware?
