I accidentally deleted the "Show Desktop" shortcut that
usually appears in the lower left hand corner of my
screen--right next to the "Start" button. How do I get
this back or recreate it?

Thanks,
KCH

Here's what mine show as the "target" "C:\Documents and Settings\<user
name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Show
Desktop.scf"
Create a shortcut with this target and drag it to the quick launch bar.

I remember a complicated Win 98 instruction for this, but today, I find
looking for "show desktop.scf", copying it to the desktop and then placing
it on the taskbar works fine in XP.

Use Search to locate show "show desktop.scf", right drag it to your desktop
and choose "Copy". Close search and then right drag to the taskbar and
choose "Move here".

Hope this helps,

Ed
