Shortcuts Appearing in My Documents folder

Having a really weird issue where shortcuts of documents I work on are being
automatically created in the My Documents folder. They are mostly documents
for Microsoft Office programs (which is used most on the PC), but there are
shortcuts to folders being generated, too. The document shortcuts also show
up as normal under Recent Documents, as well, so I am not sure what's going
on. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

You are probably creating them yourself by accident by moving the mouse
when you click on documetns or folders. A very common problem. Be
careful to not move the mouse when clicking on them.

It's not when I move the mouse. I can open up a document on a different
network drive (solid double-click), and a shortcut will magically appear in
the My Documents folder, which is a completely different drive. I can even
open up a document within the confines of the program's "Open" menu item,
and it will still happen. The window to My Documents is not open at all
when this happens, and I don't have the My Documents icon even available on
my desktop.

I have to believe that this is some weird registry setting that's off...

Sounds like "My Recent Documents" contents are being directed to "My
Documents". Look in you profile directory and see if the hidden folder
"My Recent Documents" exists.
