Shortcut to a WordPad file

Don Hicks

Hello,

I'm working in a Win 2000 environment and have a desktop shortcut to an RTF
document.

Of course, when you click on the shortcut, it opens in MS Word, but I'd
rather this one item open in WordPad when I click on it.

Is there a way to write the shortcut so this RTF file and only this one is
opened in WordPad? (In other words, I don't want to set the default program
for all RTF's as WordPad).

Sincerely,
Don Hicks

Don - you can always create a desktop shortcut to do so.
Rightclick on the desktop, select New?Shortcut, and when prompted for
the target enter
wordpad.exe targetfilename.rtf
This should open that file in wordpad, and won't change the rtf
association. If it doesn't work, try putting the filename.ext in quotes,
or providing the full wordpad location.

Make the file name extension .ftr or something strange and then make
Wordpad the default.
