shlwapi.dll ?

Question ... for the past month or so when I right click to delete anything
from my desktop I get an error message that says the shlwapi.dll file is
defective and that windows explorer must close ... I have found some
information but it is quite dated and wondered if there might be any recent
information on how to correct ... I've tried to replace the file but
whenever I do I get the same error message and the window closes. Using SP2
windows XP Home ... thanks for any info or advice ...

Have you tried running the system file checker?

Mike ... yes I ran a sfc /scannow ... but maybe I will run it again. I
deleted the MS update MS05-052 896688 from the Add/Remove Programs file ...
another person let me know that the file was changed with that security
release and that is about the time my problem began. off to run another sfc
/scannow ... thanks
