Right-clicking Drive crashes Explorer

Right-clicking any drive (not files or folders) brings up the usual menu. But
if I click anything on the menu or even outside the menu to just close it
again, explorer crashes. SHLWAPI.DLL error message. I've tried to find an
answer here, but it's not related to AVI files or JPG files or slow networks
or anything... Hope anyone can help. (I have this issue on at least one other
machine too)

Lars,
I have had a similar problem since long ago it is now fixed.
My problem was that any time I right clicked a drive icon, my computer
locked up. It ended up that my problem was the registry context handler in
windows xp.
To fix the problem, I downloaded and installed "Shellexview" (type the name
into your browser to find a place to download). When you open the program it
will list a bunch of files, sort these by file type and then disable (right
click the file name and you get the option) all third party context menu
items. I have put up with this problem forever and it is a wonderful thing to
have it fixed.
Good luck...gary

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:
