explorer & right context menu

Mel Marcovitz

Hi:

This problem arose tonight:

Whenever I try to do anything in an explorer window (e.g. using the right
context menu or using the menu access) explorer crashes & sends an error
message to M/S.

I can't seem to access safe mode.

I have tries using system restore but that fails to work. The system
remains the same.

Everything else seems to be working properly.

Have a good day,

Right-click issues are most often caused by third-party software that has
put an entry into the right-click context menu. These are most easily
managed with the free ShellExView program.

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers -

Right click causes an error and crashes Explorer.exe after installing
Windows XP SP2 - http://www.winxptutor.com/sp2/divxcrash.htm

Manage the context-menu entries for folders, drives and Namespace objects -

Hi;

Thanks very much for the help.

I found the culprit. It was an extension from a program called Power Desk
that I have been using for many years without a problem. I have disabled it
and everything seems to be working properly.

I would not have known how to find and fix the problem without your help

I'm delighted that sorted it for you. Thanks for taking the time to let me
know.
