I just bought a 1TB Seagate External Hard Disk and would like to do the followings:

1. To share the Disk between my IBM ThinkPad and my son's iMac.
2. To share the Disk on our Wireless LAN that run on a Linksys Router

So far we tried, but best we could only format the disk to be useable by either iMac or ThinkPad but not both, I guess if this is resolved then joining the disk to the LAN should not be an issue. Hope you may have some ideas how this could be done. Thanks

If the disk doesn't have a network port then it cannot become part of a network.

You could try partitioning the disk into two and then formatting each partition into suitable formats but I'm not entirely sure that would work.

Worth a try though.

Your best solution, of course, would be a pair of hard disks, one dedicated to each machine.
