Sharing files on a Media Center PC

I've seen this problem discussed when the issue is ZoneAlarm, but my
situation is a bit different. There are 2 computers. One running XP
Home and one (the main machine) running XP Media Center.
The XP Home machine is used mostly as a backup computer.
The XP Home machine can be seen from the Media Center PC--files can be
moved back and forth when sitting on that machine.
When on the XP Home machine, though, the Media Center PC is visible in
Network Neighborhood but any attempt to see files is met with an error
message saying that you don't have permission to view them.
I've messed with security giving everyone access to the files, but to
no avail.

Otherwise, things work fine as near as I can tell.

Art,

Asymmetrical access and visibility is a well known problem in this forum. The
most common cause is a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, but there
are several other possibilities.

Thanks for your reply. I'll be checking this site for suggestions. I'm
gonna try to resolve the problem next time I'm onsite--next week.

I was wondering if it's a Media Center thing, as I rarely see this
version of Windows.

Art,

XP Home, XP MCE, and XP Pro share the same core - and all are susceptible to
browser problems like what you're describing.

Good luck, and please let us know how the resolution goes.
