Connecting Win2K (2 PCs), WinXP (1 PC) and WinXP Media Center (1 P

One of my friends had 2 Win2K PCs, 1 WinXP PCs using a Linksys switch (16
ports). Everything was working fine (sharing files and printers between each
other).

He got a new PC with WinXP Media Center. There is a problem now. All PCs
get internet fine. WinXP Media Center PC can access WinXP Pro PC using
computer name or IP address. But WinXP Media Center PC CAN NOT access any
PCs. Win2K PCs can "see" the WinXP Media Center PC on the network (in
explorer) but can not see the shared files/folders.

When trying to "see" shared files/folders on the Windows XP Media Center PC,
a message comes up saying something like like network not found - make sure
administrator has given access or something like that. Everything is on the
same workgroup. File and Printer sharing is enabled.

I had heard that XP Media Center has something different about networking
but I don't know what. Please help.

Thanks much in advance.

Networking on MediaCenter PCs is the same as any other Windows XP PC, so you
would use the same troubleshooting steps on it. Right off the bat I'd
suggest checking firewall settings on the MediaCenter PC, uninstalling any
non-Microsoft firewall software from it, and running the Network Setup
Wizard to configure it to the network.
