can't connect media center pc to network

I just purchased an HP PC with XP media center. I am unable to connect it to
the network at home. I have on computer with XP home addition and a work
lapto with XP professional. I can ping both pc's from the media center, but
can't ping the media center from the other PC's. I tried running the home
network setup wizard on both PC's, but that didn't help. I can see the
workgroup in network places on the new PC, but when I click on it I get the
message "mshome (this is the workgroup name) is not accessible. you might
not have permission to use this network resource. contact the administrator
of this server to find out if you have access permissions". Maybe I need to
do something with user accounts that I can't figure out.

Bob,

User accounts may be a problem later, but user accounts don't block pings.
That's most likely a firewall problem. There are several other possibilities
too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open
mind.

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
