I am wondering if it is possible to share a drive, in my
case a DVD burner, over my home network and be able to
burn DVD's from my laptop with the burner on the desktop?

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry, but that isn't possible. A shared DVD burner can only
read, not write, when you access it from another computer.
