File sharing problem WinXP Home and WinXP Pro

R

Rolfie

I have two computers connected through a D-Link Router DIR-100. The first is
running WinXP Pro SP3 and the second WinXP Home SP3. Both are using Norton
Internet Security 2009. The WinXP Pro machine has Simple File sharing
enabled.

I have problems in accessing shared folders on the WinXP Home computer from
the WinXP Pro machine, except the DVD-reader and the DVD-burner. If I run
the WinXP Home computer in safe mode with network, I'm able to access all
shared folders without any problems.

In my Network Places I can see the icons for each shared folder or drive,
but I can't access any folders or files within it.

There are no problems in accessing shared folders in WinXP Pro machine from
WinXP Home machine.

The Norton Internet Security firewalls are setup in the same way on both
computers.

Does anyone have any advices of what to do?

I'd start with the restrictanonymous setting.

And look for an anti-worm component in Norton.

Exactly what error message do you get when "I can see the icons for each shared
folder or drive, but I can't access any folders or files within it."?
