Sharing Applications on One Computer

How can applications be shared on the same computer by
different users? Under Win XP Home, one user (who has an
administrator account) installs software. The other user
(also an administrator) logs on and most of the
applications do not show up on either the desktop or
Startmenu.

No need to "share". All programs are available to all the users on the
computer. All you need to do is create new shortcuts.
Copy the shortcut from your start menu here:

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name here\Start Menu\Programs

to the all users menu here:

C:\Documents and Settings\all user\Start Menu\Programs

Also keep in mind that some programs will not run unless the account has
admin rights, so even after you copy a shortcut it may not run. You could
try the run as function and run it as admin.

Each user, no matter what type of account, has his/her
own profile which includes desktop and start menu
settings. You must copy the the desktop or start menu
items (shortcuts) from the folder to whose profile it was
intalled and put it in the "All Users" Profile (or just
the other user for whom you want to have access) to be
accessible by others. You can access these folders by
right clicking on the Start Menu > Explore All Users. You
also need to have the View Option to display All Folders
and Files (incl System Folders)from within Tools > Folder
Options of Windows Explorer menu. You must also be
Administrator to access folders which are not in your own
profile.

Every Application is different. When you install
software, some might ask you to which profile you want to
install (ie default user - the person installing, or All
Users) or it may not ask at all -- as is decided by the
developer. So after an install, you have to manually move
or copy the shortcuts over to the profile you want to
have access. If you move them to all users, you don't
need copies anywhere else.

Couldn't you just right click the taskbar, go to
properties and uncheck the "Use personalized Menus"?

No, that option has nothing to do with this. And that option is only
available if you use the old classic start menu style. If you use xps new
start menu style that option isn't even listed there.
