Share files

Each time I get to the desktop on Vista I get a share message (two actually)
saying WPDNSE is a shared file, and I have to cancel twice. I have
determined that it is related to WMP11, but I have set off all shares I can
find and still the stupid share popup comes up each time. I have found a
solution on Google to dump WMP11 - manual uninstall, but would like a better
solution if one is available.
On the same problem, shares, every time I end Windows Mail I get two popups
for a file ppcrlui_9999_.ui where 9999 is various numbers. Seems related to
some kind of passport control in Mail, but I can't find any shares and I
specifically set up newsgroups without community features. Again any ideas.
I can always install another mail program and get rid of this, but again I
would like a less drastic solution.
Thanks.

John:
I did a quick search of WPDNSE in this NG and found that it is a known bug
fixed in Vista RTM.
Nevertherless, there was this poster named "Ribeye" who found a workaround
which I quote:
"I figured this out but it takes a little work.
If you go into windows explorer first you need to go the the
menu bar on top where it says "organize" drop that down
Click on folder and search options, then view, then hit the
radio button that says "show hidden files and folders" and hit OK
Then go the the folder
C:\Users\account name\AppData\local\temp\WPDNSE
The account name in the above path stands for all the user names
that have limited account access, except the one you're signed in under.
You have to go to this folder "WPDSNE" for each account name, they all have
one.
When you get to the above folder right click on it and choose properties and
then click on the security tab and then edit and on the permissions deny
control
(check all deny boxes, if you check the top one all of them will check.) to
all the limited user accounts. Don't do it for admin accounts or system
account or the
account you're signed in under at the time you edit this folder permission
You then sign on to all the other accounts that are getting this popup
and do the same but don't do it for the account you're signed under.
You only deny permission to the accounts you're not signed in under.
If you do this with each account you'll eventually cover them all.
I only had two accounts so I only had to do it twice.
It sounds hard but once you do the first folder you'll get the hang of it
quickly.
It workedfor me I hope it works for you...good luck"

Hope that helps, John.

Thanks Carlos. Guess I hadn't downloaded that one since my search came up
empty. Any ideas on the other one? That would not work the same since it
keeps adding new folders. 1 down and 1 to go. If outlook did newsgroups I
wouldn't need OE, but alas.

Sorry, John. This is as far as I can get as I don't use Windows Mail.
All I could find is:

ppcrlui.dll is the Passport Client UI Library
WPDNSE is Windows Portable Devices Namespace Extension

Hope someone picks up from here and can help you.

Thanks Carlos. I intentionally left out the Communities hoping that would
eliminate any passport need, but who knows what these multiplying files are.
