Hello,
How do I set up Windows Firewall correctly? I have a DSL internet
modem, without router and without hardware firewall, connected to
NIC#1 in a Windows XP SP2 machine. NIC#2 is connected to a hub,
through which I wish to file share with a second XP machine and with a
98SE machine. I have enabled ICS on NIC#1
ICS is operating successfully.
File Sharing is not working smoothly.
I have enabled Windows Firewall on both NIC's. Is this wrong? Should
I enable Windows Firewall only on NIC#1 and disable on NIC#2? If I do
that, will Windows Firewall on NIC#1 protect ALL my computers from
INCOMING attacks? I am not sure about this because the ICS clients
have to go through NIC#2, to get to the host, in order to gain access
to the internet connection coming in through NIC#1.
Is there a more streamlined way to set this up, short of getting a
router with built-in firewall?
Thanks,
karlo
