setting up network

I'm trying to set up a network with my roommate's
computer. We have a linksys router and cable internet. I
have win 2000 and he has winXP. I've went through the
wizard and created a setup disk for my computer, but it
doesn't work with 2000 - only 98 and millenium edition.
Any thoughts on how to get this set up or where to find
out how. Thanks

You need to configure the win2000 manually. Both computers need to be in
the same workgroup, same subnet, and have unique names. You can setup your
computer to obtain IP Address, and DNS automatically.
