Setting up Fax with XP pro.

I am running Windows XP pro. I have a US Robotics
Faxmodem, that supports 56k, x2, and V90.

The OS detects the modem, and installs drivers
for U.S. Robotics Faxmodem Win TI

The drivers are as follows:

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\Modem.sys

File version: 5.1.2600.0 (xpclient.010817-1148)

and

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\USRTI.sys

File version: 2.60.005

Ok here is the problem:

I can use the modem fine to connect to internet, and
all is well with that aspect.

However, after installing the FAX software, as specified
in the following instructions:

Install the Fax Component
Fax is not installed by default during Windows Setup. To
install Fax, follow these steps:
In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs under Pick
a category to open the Add or Remove Programs dialog box.
Click Add/Remove Windows Components to start the Windows
Components Wizard starts.
In the Components list, click to select the Fax Services
check box, and then click Next. Setup installs the Fax
services. If prompted, insert the Microsoft Windows XP
compact disc, and then click OK.
On the Completing the Windows Components Wizard screen,
click Finish.
In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Close.

I then try to configure the fax service by the following:

Configure the Fax Service
To configure faxing capability in Windows XP, follow
these steps:
Click Start, then point to All Programs, then point to
Accessories, then point to Communications, then point to
Fax, and then click Fax Console.

But when I click on the fax menu item, there is no sub
menu item (Fax Console) to select.

Whats the deal?

If I try another way by going to printers and faxs, and
select setup faxing, it initially creates the icon for
the fax, then removes it, and then replies that I need to
install a local fax printer.

I thought all I needed was a Fax modem, and I could send
and receive faxs with it.

Any help would be appreciated!

Try going back to "add or reomove programs" then add click "add/remove
windows components" and see if the Win Fax box is checked and report
back.....
