Setting up EASYSHARE

Ted F

Trying to install and setup EASYSHARE and having NO luck, I have two
computers networked together and sharing internet, files, folders, printers
that are working correctly.

Next,

Computer #1 has a "ATI AIW 7500 AGP 64M" video card with all updated drivers
(cAT 4.6) and software (MMC 9.0).

Computer #2 has a "ATI 7000 VE AGP 64M" video card with all updated drivers
(cAT 4.6) and software (MMC 9.0).

I uninstall and reinstall "MMC 9.0" on computer #1 then computer #2 many
times and one at a time, But both give me the same errors. I can't get the
"AT AIW 7500" video card on computer #1 to act as a servers. Both computers
#1 and #2 say "CLIENT".

==========

I get the following errors setting up EASYSHARE...

WARNING!

Could not find any valid EASYSHARE(TM) servers on the network.
Please ensure your network and EASYSHARE(TM) are configured correctly,
and that a EASYSHARE(TM) server is up and running.

Has anybody had this problem and how did you fix it.

Hi Ted,

I'm having the same problem - also with an AIW 7500. Wonder if there's
an issue with this particular card. I tried MMC 8.8 and 8.9 as well to
no avail. According to the FAQ it's meant to ask you whether you want
it to be a server during installation but it doesn't. Have you managed
to fix this yet?

NO!

I will just not use the "EASYSHARE".

To me, it really does NOT work with ALL ATI video cards. ATI has a big bug
problem with this program and refuse to fix it. I dont think its the video
card its self its the software.

Also, I have tried 5 other newer ATI AIW video cards, and they dont work and
I know my network connections are setup correct.

Things I've tried and did not work:

MMC 8.8, 8.9, 9.0, 9.1

ATI AIW 7500, 8500, 9200, 9800
ATI 7000, 9200, 9600

Ooh, Well...

any fix to this yet?

i found this on the ait web site:

EAZYSHARE: Client cannot find the Server
The information in this article applies to the following
configurations:
Multimedia Center's EAZYSHARE feature
Windows XP Service Pack 2 set up on the EAZYSHARE Server system
In this configuration, it has been noted that the EAZYSHARE feature of
ATI Multimedia Center will not function correctly as the client may
not be able to locate the server. However, the server is able to see
the client.

It appears that this issue stems from the new Windows Firewall feature
incorporated in Service Pack 2.

ATI Engineering is aware of this issue and investigating. Any updates
will appear on this page when they become available.
