Video Editing with Multi-media Center Software?

Does the MMC software bundled with AIW cards provide reasonable video
editing software (for the purposes of editing and converting analog video
input to DVD), or is additional software required.

From the ATI website, if I understand correctly, some AIW cards come only
with MMC, some come with additional Pinnacle Studio software, and I'm
wondering if MMC software by itself will do the job?

hmm

MMC comes as a standard component of any AIW card. Basically it acts as a
central executable to launch the MMC TV, Video player, dvd player,
library, etc. MMC of itself has no editing capability other than choosing
capture formats/settings.

As well there is additional software like guide+, pinnacle studio, ulead
or MerlinVR. Lately they have added muvee autoproducer.

So I guess the question is are you getting a newer aiw or an older one,
the newer ones have whatcha want.

MMC doesn't have any video editing capability, however generally an AIW will
have some kind of video editor bundled with the AIW. Usually not a very
good one.

Try what's in the box but _plan_ on spending the 85 bucks or so for
something decent.

Incidentally, I wouldn't use an AIW if I had another option--I've had
several of them and finally found that a separate capture board was in
general a more satisfactory solution.

Thanks for the responses.

With respect to a separate composite video (with audio) capture board, any
suggestions/recommendations re specific products?

Thanks

Sony's VEGAS Movie Studio Platinum is an *excellent* choice in that price
range.

I was thinking of Premiere Elements myself, but to each his own.
