setting start page - cant change it

all of a suuden my start page changed after being on the
net. I am unable to select any other start page when
using the tools/internet option feature. It alwasys goes
back to the blank page. I have removed all spyware with
pest patrol. Can anybody tell me how to change it or
remove the override somebody put on it.

after weeks of probs. and research, i found that in some
of the spywareblaster downloads that I did myself were
infected with the problems you are trying to get rid of
eventually found out that they were so imbedded in the
registry roots that I had to format hard drive . I am not
saying you need to do this but I tryed to do microsoft
updates and was rederected, I tryed to do virus scans with
mcaffee unsucessfully, there were alot of % symbols in
add. bar when searching. my soloution was to install fresh
copy of mcaffe from disk (not down load) then update
microsoft security service packs, then get the lattest
downloads from mcaffe. even this I had to do a few times
to get it right because of reinfection I went to another
house to use a different address to get it right. some of
these browser helper objects are hard to remove. once
removed do not use any thing but your fire wall and anti-
virus if updated this is all you need and set settings at
very tight so you can control everything yourself

Also read the privacy policys carfully on any free
downloads from the internet. They will even tell you that
they are going to give you varmints!

This is probably the CWS-about blank hijacker. CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html should remove it.
