Setting Program Defaults

I am having an issue playing DVD movies on Windows Media Player 11 in Vista.

Media player opens up, recognizes the move, then closes. PowerDVD then
opens and plays the movie. I have changed the settings in the Program Access
and Defaults but they revert back after I exit the window. For example,
under "Choose a default media player," I selected "Windows Media Player" then
saved the setting and exited the window. When I go back in, "Use my current
media player" is selected.

Does anyone know what is happening or how to fix this?

Try creating a new admin user, and test that. If it works, you may need to
copy your old profile settings to the new account.

"Use my current Media Player" is just shorthand for "leave things the way
they are" and doesn't mean anything further. It doesn't know what player is
the default there.

Windows Media Player opens up and then closes? I am utterly familiar with
this behavior, if that's what you're saying happens. That would be strange.
It's not crashing, just -- shutting down... ?
