Set IE as default browser

I am having trouble setting IE as my default browser. I installed Firefox and then set it to be the default but I am having trouble with links not working in Trillian so I wanted to set IE back to being the default. I have gone into Tools > Internet Options > Programs and checked the "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" and then shut it down. When I restart IE it does not prompt me to make it the default. I know this should be just that easy but it is not working. Any ideas on what I can do to fix it?

Phil,

For Windows XP, try this fix:
Download the .reg fix. Set Internet Explorer as default browser:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg

* Use this only if IE is installed in its default location [c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer] *

Thanks. That worked perfectly. Is there a known issue that the checkbox in Options does not work?
