session will not shut down or restart

Hi there,

I've got a problem with my OS in which the session simply
refuses to shut down / restart. This hampers most of my
efforts in installing new programs to help troubleshoot.

Does anyone know a solution with reformating my HDD as my
very last resort.

For logoff problems, try using the UPHClean tool:

If open handles on the registry are the cause of the issue, you can find
out the process(es) that have open handles using the Handles tool from:
www.sysinternals.com
