My office was using Windows 98 PCs to print to the Windows
XP PRO pc which Wins XP PRO was directly installed a laser
printer. But many of Windows 98 PC work very slow for all
printing job except few of the Windows 98 PCs were running
fast. Is that I need to install Microsoft XP SP1 to solve
this problem? Is the Microsoft XP SP1 need license?

Hi,

Depends on

- the installed driver on the W98 machine
- the link speed
- where they end up in the print queue
- what else is running on the W98 machine while the print job is spooling

The WinXP machine merely accepts the print jobs into the shared printer,
installing SP1 will not improve the performance of the jobs sent from the
W98 machines.
