Service Pack 2 screws mouse accuracy

I use Adobe PhotoShop a lot in my work, and since installing XP Service Pack
2 a couple of days ago, my mouse accuracy has degraded, especially when
trying to draw arc or curves. Rather than stepping a pixel at a time it
seems to do it by at least 2 or 3, causing quite jagged movements.

Does anyone know a fix for this, or what the problem might be?

Supposing you tried installing the latest drivers for your mouse?

You neglected to mention which vendor/model mouse you use.
If Logitech, you should switch from their Mouseware software &
drivers to SetPoint.
The current version of Setpoint is available here:

Also, disabling "Enhanced Pointer Precision" in some cases will
resolve the movement issue. Use the XP native mouse control
applet in Control Panel, Pointer Options (Tab).

My mouse is a MS Intellimouse Exploer (optical).

I'll try reinstalling the Intellimouse drivers later this evening.
