Windows XP Service Pack 2 will not install!!!!

I saked a question a few days ago, and had it answered by a poster "farid".
Thanks farid!

I re-installed Windows XP on my computer, and ffter running the XP CD, it
installed Service Pack 1, I then did the automatic updater it loaded 29
updates before
getting to Service Pack 2. As it is installing Service Pack 2, about halfway
through, the installer gets to the file "pscript.nsf" and stops. I then get a
message telling me that the Update has failed. I've tried to
cleanup/repairing the
registry, defraging, everything else I can think of to make it a cleaner
install. I've then tried to redo the install of Service Pack 2 two more times
only to have it stop in the exact same place.

This is getting very frustrating. HELP!!!! again!

Try installing XP again and using SP3 instead of SP2 and do not update
XP before installing SP3. After installing SP3, reboot THREE times and
then update Windows. Do a clean up and defrag after installing XP and
after installing SP3.

Why in the world would I have to reboot "3" times after installing SP3?

One way to find out: Don't do it. I don't know why and MS says reboot
twice (again, I don't know why) so I reboot one more time just for good
luck.
